First Tournament, First Championship
What a weekend for WinCity Baseball! Playing in a round robin hosted by the Stephen’s City Thunder, our team faced tough competition against the Thunder, the Stonewall Tigers, and the East Coast Cavaliers. We came away with a perfect 5–0 record and, most importantly, our very first championship as a team in our very first tournament.
This milestone was full of exciting firsts. Hayden C and Keegan M each hit their first home runs of the season! Hayden had an incredible weekend at the plate, driving in five runs in multiple games and hitting both a triple and a double in key moments. Keegan brought speed and power, combining clutch hitting with stolen bases to keep pressure on every opponent.
But this was far from a two-player show. Cullen T and William D delivered big RBIs, Ben M added consistent hitting and solid pitching, and Maddux H and Jayden F came up with timely at-bats to drive in runs. Our pitchers—Theodore, Gus, Ben, Jayden, and Hayden—combined for multiple shutouts, showing just how far our team has come in a short time. On defense, the team was sharp and steady, committing almost no errors across five games.
Every win was earned through teamwork. Against the Whitacre Tigers, aggressive baserunning made the difference, with the team stealing seven bases to edge out a 6–5 victory. Against the Thunder, patience at the plate led to double-digit runs, while strong pitching shut the door. In the championship-clinching game, the kids showed discipline and focus, walking away with a 9–0 win backed by another shutout performance on the mound.
This weekend was a reminder of why we built this program: to give kids the chance to learn, grow, and compete at a high level. This weekend showed how quickly these players are building chemistry, sharpening their skills, and rising to the challenge.
Thank you to our sponsors for making moments like this possible. Your support allows us to represent Winchester baseball proudly, build opportunities in youth baseball, and show what’s possible when a group of kids, coaches, and families come together. We’re only just getting started, but this first championship is proof that we’re on the right path in travel baseball in Winchester VA.

First Doubleheader: A Big Step Forward for WinCity Baseball
This past weekend marked a major milestone for our program—our first official doubleheader as an organized team. We faced one of the toughest competitors in the region, the Snyder Bucks out of Manassas, Virginia. Known for their depth and talent, the Bucks gave our players a true test of what travel baseball in Winchester VA is all about.
The scoreboard showed losses, but for our team this was never about chasing an easy win. From the beginning, we set out to face strong opponents because that’s where real growth happens. Playing the Bucks gave us exactly what we hoped for—insight into where we need to adjust and what to focus on in training. In that sense, the day was a success.
There were bright spots on the field, too. Hayden C took the mound in the opener, striking out one and giving the team a steady start. At the plate, Hayden also notched a hit, while Keegan M kept the pressure on with two stolen bases. In the field, Gus R was rock-solid, handling eight defensive chances without an error. As a group, WinCity–Madagan 10U played clean defense, finishing the day without a single fielding mistake—a sign of focus and discipline we’re proud of.
For our coaches, this was a proud moment. We’re confident these kids will take that knowledge and use it to keep improving.
We’re grateful to our sponsors for helping make days like this possible. Your support allows us to give kids the chance to compete, learn, and carry forward the tradition of youth baseball in the Winchester community. This was just the first step, and with each challenge, our team grows stronger.
Season Kickoff: Building Something Special Together
Season Kickoff: Building Something Special Together
Launching a brand-new youth baseball program has been both exciting and challenging. From navigating the details of nonprofit requirements to organizing tryouts and assembling a coaching staff, every step has been a learning experience.
The results have been worth it. We’re proud to officially begin our first season of Winchester baseball with a fantastic group of kids, families, and volunteer coaches. Our coaching staff brings deep roots in the game—all of them played for Shenandoah University Hornets baseball. Our head coach, who also played under the legendary Bob Brown, carries forward a tradition that means so much to the baseball community here in Winchester. That experience, combined with their dedication, sets a strong foundation for our players.
Alongside practices and games, we’ve also made time for team get-togethers, knowing that strong friendships off the field build stronger teamwork on it. Finding field space in the area has been a bigger challenge than expected, but we’ve been fortunate to secure enough practice time and schedule doubleheaders. With multiple tournaments on the calendar—both locally and with opponents from outside the region—we’re excited to see how the season unfolds.
This journey is only possible thanks to the support of our sponsors. Your contributions help us create new opportunities for travel baseball in Winchester VA, bringing kids together to learn, compete, and grow. We’re grateful to have you as part of this effort, and we’re excited to continue building something special for our community.
